God so Loved

One day in 1989 when I was praying God spoke to me and told me that He was going to send me to Uganda. With that word came the faith and love for a people I had never met. The love that fell into my heart at that moment was like a huge tear from heaven and I was astounded at the call.

Three days later as I was in my office the phone rang. It was a friend asking if we would help an African pastor who had recently arrived in England to get help for his people. He was from Uganda and spoke little English.

We took him into our home and I shared the vision the Lord had given me. He wept and asked me to go to Uganda to share the Gospel and see the needs of the people there. Six months later in 1990 I made my first trip to Africa.

The country was still suffering from the effects of the persecution by Iddi Amin and Obote. I had never seen such poverty and I spent many hours weeping and praying for these people.

During the sixteen years of involvement with the poor in Uganda I have seen thousands of lives changed through the love of God expressed in material aid and spiritual teaching and healing.

I am amazed at what God can do through one person surrendered to His will. The personal cost has been worth every moment. He has transformed me from an English housewife to a mighty woman of God.

Healed of AIDS

I gave my life to Christ in 1989. At that time my husband and I were working on building a new house. He was a good man so I had no reason to doubt his fidelity. In 1991 he became ill and within a few months he was dead. In 1992 after I had moved to Kampala with my three children I fell sick. I was suffering from continuous diarrhoea, vomiting, headaches, and I lost weight. When I had some blood tests the results showed I was HIV positive. I was devastated.

The doctor prescribed me some medication and told me to go home. My response was that since HIV/AIDS had no known medical cure I was going to pray to God instead of taking medicine. She remarked that the disease had already reached an advanced stage and I was beginning to lose my mind.

That night I locked myself in my bedroom, forced my frail body to kneel by my bed and cried before God until no more tears were left. I repented before Him, asking Him to have mercy and heal me. I stood on the scriptures of 2 Chron 7:14, humbling myself and forsaking sin. I promised God that if He would heal me I would testify of His healing power to the whole world.

Afterwards a sense of peace came over me. Later that night I woke up and realized that my body was feeling better than it had for months. Over the next few weeks the symptoms disappeared. But I was not completely OK.

In 1994, the late Apostle Deo Balabyekubbo came back from the USA with the message that God had sent him to pray for AIDS victims and they would be healed. He announced a 40 day fast and I eagerly participated.

I knew I needed a miracle to rid my blood of the virus, although the symptoms were gone. After the fast I told the Apostle my a story. He told me to read and believe Psa 118:17 'I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord'. then he prayed for me and told me to go and check my blood again.

I went back to St Catherine's clinic. The doctor was reluctant to redo the test. I assured her that I believed God had healed me. To her amazement the results showed I was HIV negative.

God has spared my life. My children have a mother and my testimony has never stopped. What God has done for me He will do for any other person who will call upon Him in faith. Glory be to His holy name.
